South Beach Week 1 Weigh In – Sept 8th, 2010 September 8, 2010

Today I bought a scale – for the first time in my life.  I will try not to obsess over it, but after a mid-day weigh in I am 184 lbs.  This is 14 pounds down from my starting weight of 198 in March of this year.

I’m doing great – yesterday at work we had a chocolate fountain party with tons of sweets and flowing chocolate – it looked amazing.  I didn’t eat one bite – not even the fruit.  I’m sticking to phase 1 of south beach and that means no fruit.  It’s been 1 week exactly since I started – and so far so good.  I feel the difference already – I feel less bloated and even fit into a pair of pants that I haven’t worn since last year!!!

Have a great weekend – we have a 4 day holiday weekend here in Israel – with tons of food and laying around – I will try to fit some exercise in – or at least some walks with the kids.

Menu for Day 2 September 3, 2010

Breakfast:
2 eggs omelet w/sprinkle of parm cheese
coffee – w/splash of milk (no sugar or sweetener)
V8 juice

Snack:
20 peanuts

Lunch:
Grilled chicken, grilled veggies, salads, onion soup

Snack:
cucumbers

Dinner:
Tuna w/some mayo
veggies cut up

no sweets, no sugar, no bread, no pasta

South Beach diet – my new lifestyle. This time i’m sticking to it – and it feels really good so far.

 

Back to the Beach September 3, 2010

I’m back on the south beach diet- day 3 – this time for good. It’s all about me now and since the summer is finally over I can put the focus back on my health.

I have no time for exercise, but I can control what goes into my mouth.

It’s day three, and I feel fantastic. No sugar in 3 days – it’s too hot to bake anything anyways, so that temptation is not there.

I do have a family birthday party today, but will be sticking to my veggies and salads – I just might eat before I go.

Haven’t been focusing as much on myself lately and have been eating lots of sweets. Not in a good place – however I did manage to loose a little weight – not go up which is good.

This week I was at the doctor again – I will not buy a scale for the house! I am now down to 84kg – 185 lbs. It’s a little surprising to me that even though I didn’t try, I still lost some weight. I think it has to do with the heat – I am not baking as much these days.

I need to re-focus and get back on track. Got a wedding coming up in a few weeks and I would love to be comfortable there!

Oatmeal w/tiny drop of light maple syrup
coffee w/1% milk

Snack:

4 dried pineapple slices (no sugar added)

crystal light fruit punch – w/2 tlbs. apple cider vinegar

Lunch:

Grilled Chicken breasts w/salad (olive oil and vinegar dressing)

Snack:

10 macadamia nuts

Dinner:

White Bean Soup (tomato based)

Dessert:

80 calorie yogurt fruit Popsicle

Went to the doc again, since both my kids are sick. Remember I don’t own a scale on purpose – I would be totally obsessed with getting on it every few hours!

So, today at the doc office I got on the scale – fully clothed with shoes & jeans – and I weigh 86.5 kg – 190.6 pounds!!! I’m so excited to get down in the 180′s soon.

My elliptical machine was broken, but my very talented husband was able to take it apart and fix it! There was a problem with the resistance, something to do with the magnet. He adjusted the screws and sprayed everything with WD-40 and it works!!

I got on the elliptical last night after a week and a half break (I was really sick too). I felt like I had never worked out. I could only go for 20 minutes. This morning I got up and had my coffee and some oatmeal – then got on for another 20 minutes. It felt so good.

I think I can squeeze in another workout tonight after the kids go to sleep. I really liked getting it over with in the morning – was a great way to start my day. I might just try it on a regular basis – if I can manage to drag myself out of bed 30 min earlier!

Well, good food planned for today – I have some chicken breast to grill and some salad and pickles.

A friend recommended drinking vinegar to get rid of fat – and my initial reaction was NO WAY! Well, guess what – I put 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in my morning juice – and although I had to hold my nose while I drank – it wasn’t that bad. I might be able to do that every day.

today’s weight 87 KG – 191.8 pounds!! (fully dressed with jeans & sweatshirt & shoes)

Just a reminder that my starting weight was 89 KG – 196 lbs

In the last few weeks I celebrated my birthday with lots of sweets and really bad food choices.

For 3 days i’ve been pretty sick and didn’t eat a ton of sugar – since I can’t taste anything anyways – whats the point!?  Also haven’t gotten on my new used elliptical machine that I just bought at all for about 1 week.  I’m getting back to it tonight!  It’s the best thing I could have done for myself.  I think if I can lose 2 pounds a month just by mild excercise and watching my food – i’m on the right track!

It’s very encouraging to see that I’m loosing weight.

2 KG (5 lbs) loss = very happy!

2 eggs – omelet style
coffee w/splash 1% milk

Snack:
2 tablespoons spicy peanut butter (no sugar added)
tiny burger w/lettuce & pickle (tester from nearby restaurant)

Lunch:
salad w/chicken breast & garlic mayo sauce
coke zero

Snack:
cucumbers
2 peanut butter girl scout cookies (I really couldn’t resist – they were flown in from the states – and bring back so many memories of when I was a girl scout)

Dinner:
1/2 a 100% Burger (no bun)
big salad w/red cabbage, cucumbers, cauliflower, tomatoes & yellow peppers – olive oil & salt for dressing

Today was pretty good – except for the girl scout cookies. I”m feeling much better with my body. I feel thinner and less bloated.

Tomorrow will be a challenge – I’m going to a BBQ at friends – it’s always hard when i’m not eating at home.

Grilled chicken w/salad – tehina & chili dressing
flavored soda water drink (100 calories)

Snack:
peanuts

Dinner:
Meatballs (there were some breadcrumbs in them & regular ketchup)
Salad
3 slices low fat turkey breast w/mustard

Dessert:
2 squares dark chocolate
popsicle – 9 calories

Notes:
The dark chocolate is proving to be too tempting. I’m not able to control myself – I used to only eat 1 square, and now eat two. I’m not going to buy anymore at the store when this one runs out.
